The Seymour Area Farmers Market is conducting a vendor registration meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, 105 S. Chestnut St., Seymour.

The Jackson County Election Board will meet at 9 a.m. Friday in the former Jackson Superior Court II courtroom in the courthouse annex, 220 E. Walnut St., Brownstown.

Owen-Salt Creek Township Fire Department receives new firetruck

The Owen-Salt Creek Township Fire Department recently took delivery of a 2023 Kenworth tanker-pumper. Shown with the truck are, from left, Fire Chief Chad Laney, Zach Sovern, who is the Owen-Salt Creek Fire District fiscal officer, and Steve Wray, who is the fire district board’s president. The $450,000 firefighting apparatus can hold 3,500 gallons of water and pump at a rate of 500 gallons per minute for the department, which protects property in Owen and Salt Creek townships in western Jackson County. The district is the largest fire territory — over 97 square miles — in the county and covers an area from south of U.S. 50 north to the Brown County line with Jackson County.
