Deadline approaching to apply for Crothersville principal job

CROTHERSVILLE — Crothersville Community School Corp. is seeking a junior-senior high school principal starting with the 2023-24 school year.

During the Jan. 9 board of education meeting, it was unanimously approved to move forward with the preliminary notice of nonrenewal of the administrative contract for Doug Ballinger, who has been the junior-senior high school principal since the 2020-21 school year.

Then during the Feb. 13 board meeting, a motion to accept Ballinger’s letter of resignation carried with a 5-0 vote. His resignation is effective June 30.

After that, the job was posted on the Indiana Department of Education’s school personnel job bank website, app.hirenimble.com/jobs/state/in.

The deadline to apply is Friday. The new principal’s contract would start July 1.

The junior-senior high school principal oversees grades 6 to 12. According to the job posting, that person is expected to lead others in committing to the mission and vision of the school, offer recommendations to staff for growth and development and be able to coach them as needed, hire individuals who will propel the district forward and lead staff in effective professional development.

For students, they are expected to work with the “whole child,” effectively maintain student discipline, have the mentality of “better than state average” attendance and testing scores and motivate students to do their best.

For curriculum and instruction, the principal will focus on student learning, have knowledge of graduation requirements, including pathways, be familiar with best instructional practices and be able to analyze student performance and work with teachers to make informed decisions about student learning.

Finally, the principal should do public relations by promoting pride within the school and among stakeholders, maintaining a positive attitude in interactions with staff, students, parents and the community, partnering with and engaging community members and promoting the corporation.

“The community is very proud of the school and supportive of the work that goes into developing young minds,” the job posting states. “Staff is very supportive, and the students are wonderful. We are looking for someone who has the desire to help move the district forward by introducing innovative ideas.”
