OKEECHOBEE

79 years old. Born on Friday, January 7, 1944 in Seymour, Indiana to Harry &Dorothy Hollenbeck, brother Paul and sister Patty. She attended Shields High School and was a regular at Steinkamps. After high school, she followed her older sister Patty, who had always looked out for her, to South Florida where she met and married the love of her life?Hugh (Tom) Fielder. After raising three children in South Florida and Western North Carolina, Tom &Peggy moved to Okeechobee in 1992. With a soft spot for spirited young people, Peggy managed the food services program at several of Okeechobee’s youth residential programs where she cherished the opportunity to impart to the students food preparation skills. Her tough-love style earned her the affectionate nickname “Miss Peggy” and she continued to support residential youth ministries long after her retirement. Peggy was deeply loyal and devoted to those she loved. She was strong and independent, sometimes sassy sometimes sweet, but always endearing. She nurtured rewarding, lifelong friendships. As an expert knitter and crocheter, she gifted her beautiful creations to others regularly. If you were having a baby, you would receive gorgeous, handmade baby blankets, caps and sweaters. Peggy served her community in her retirement years and was an active member of Believers Fellowship Church in Okeechobee. She will be dearly missed by her beloved family and friends. Having joined her husband of 50 years in paradise, Peggy is survived by her three children Jody, Kevin and Kerry; and by six grandchildren?Brett, Jessica, Allison, Joseph, Katie and Ryan. A service celebrating Peggy’s life will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 2pm at the Believers Fellowship Church, 300 S.W. 6th Avenue, Okeechobee, FL 34973. In lieu of sending flowers, the family asks you to make a donation of time or money to someone in need.
