Information about current children’s program at Brownstown Public Library, 120 E. Spring St., recently was released.

That programming includes:

Circle of Friends Storytime

3:30 to 4 p.m. March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, April 6, 13, 20 and 27 and May 4

This program, for children 2 to 6 years of age, begins promptly at 3:30 p.m. A library staff member will come to the children’s department to let children know it is time for the program. Each week, children will be introduced to a different theme through a combination of stories, songs, finger plays and crafts.

Children who attend this program should be able to color and use glue sticks independently. A parent or guardian must attend storytime with children under 3 to assist with finger plays and craft projects. In accordance with Library Policy 802, parents and guardians must remain in the building with all children under 5.

All of the children will be escorted back to the children’s department at the end of the program.

TRAC: Teen Readers Advisory Club

3:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 6, April 3, May 1 and June 5

The Teen Readers Advisory Club advises the library on teen interests and trends. Members recommend titles for the young adult collection and suggest ideas for teen programs. Occasionally, members help youth services facilitate programs for other age groups.

This program is for tweens and teens entering sixth to 12th grades. Participants must have read one book from the young adult collection before each meeting.

During the meeting, each participant will give a brief book talk about their selection. The goal of the book talk is to tell enough about the title to encourage fellow teens to read the title without giving away the ending.

Following the book talks, teens will have time to socialize, make recommendations for future programs and participate in various group activities. Snacks will be provided during all meetings. Registration is required.

Kids-Only Book Club

3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Feb. 28, March 28 and April 25

Participants must have read one book before each meeting for the program for children in third, fourth and fifth grades. During the meeting, each participant will give a brief book talk about their selection.

Following the book talks, participants will have time to socialize, make recommendations for future programs and participate in various group activities. Snacks will be provided during all meetings. If your child has any food allergies or food-related medical conditions, send a snack with your child.

Great Beginnings Book Club

3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Feb. 27, March 27 and April 24

Children in kindergarten through second grade are invited to participate in this after-school book club that will meet once a month in the library conference room. Participants will read and discuss a book selected by the staff.

Upon completion of the book discussion, participants will engage in different book-related activities. The overall goal of the club is to encourage the participants to discuss and enjoy different kinds of literature. Snacks will be provided during all meetings. If your child has any food allergies or food-related medical conditions, send a snack with your child. Some activities may occur outdoors, weather permitting.

Registration is required and limited to 15 participants. You may register in person or by telephone at 812-358-2853.

If Brownstown Central Community School Corp. schools close due to weather, all youth services programming will be canceled.
