Drug-free council makes grant applications available

The Jackson County Drug-Free Council now has grants available for local funding to address the use and misuse of alcohol, marijuana, prescriptions and illegal narcotics in the county.

Anyone may apply for funding to be considered that meets the criteria in the categories of prevention/education, treatment/intervention and law enforcement/justice. The council will be distributing $18,510 to successful applicants in each of these categories from the county’s community drug fund to continue efforts to reduce substance use and misuse.

Applications, due by March 1, may be downloaded online at drugfreecouncil.org and will be reviewed by the local grant review committee of the council for recommendations to Jackson County Commissioners. They also must be approved by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute Behavioral Health Division.
