Cheryl Lynn (Everett) Souza, age 65, a native of Battle Creek, Michigan and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Covered Bridge Health Campus. She was born on May 11, 1957 to John Everett and Carlene (Grasher) Everett of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Cheryl will forever be remembered as an outgoing, compassionate, calm, never angry lady that was always smiling. She graduated from Michigan State with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She absolutely loved teaching and pouring into the lives of her student. Always believing in them that they could do anything they put their minds to. She taught second language and for many years, team taught with her husband and later was inducted into the Team Teacher Hall of Fame in Clark County, Nevada.

She enjoyed playing cards and dice games with her family and spending time at the lake house in Hastings, Michigan fishing on the pontoon boat. Cheryl loved Sunday dinners and doing whatever she could to make everything fun. She loved her grandchildren immensely and loved playing with them and even had a “Princess Room” at home for them.

She was a beautiful lady that left her love and handprints on many people and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and each life that she touched in her own special way.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 40 years, Mike Souza of Seymour, Indiana, one son, Mike Souza and his wife Michelle of Cary, Illinois and one daughter, Dr. Amanda Souza and her husband Joe Maloney of Seymour, Indiana.

One brother, John Everett and his wife Mickey of Marshall, Michigan and one sister, Debbie Owen of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Six grandchildren, Laurel, MaKenna, Charlotte, Miles, Emma and Maddox.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Allen Everett.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Hudson officiating.

She will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour, Indiana.
