Seymour senior Grace Lewis was one of 80 divers across the state to compete in diving regionals this week.

There were four different sites — Jasper, Hamilton Southeastern, Mishawaka and Brownsburg — and Lewis went down to Jasper on Tuesday night to compete for a spot in the state finals this Saturday.

Lewis placed 20th overall, finishing with an overall score of 187.80.

Eight individuals advanced out of the Jasper Regional. Mia Prusiecki (Center Grove) scored a 539.85, Ella Taylor (Indian Creek) 441.10, Gabriel Meier (Columbus East) 407.95, Anna Bunnell (Evansville North) 406.70, Camryn Quiggins (Franklin) 391.30, Bree Cleary (East Central) 366.25, Carina Jacobson (Bloomington South) 363.40 and Natalie West (Evansville Reitz) 359.05.

Lewis scored 289.35 points to place third at the Floyd Central Sectional to qualify for Tuesday’s regional. It was Lewis’ first appearance at the diving regional in her career with the Owls.

With the girls swimming and diving season over, Lewis will still compete on the Seymour gymnastics team the rest of the winter.

The gymnastics team will be in the Bloomington North Invitational this Saturday at 10 a.m.
