Sauers E extends league lead to five games after week 12

The snowball continues to roll downhill as Sauers E swept Brownstown 4 in week 12 of the Lutheran Dartball League to increase their first-place lead by five games with an overall record of 33-3.

White Creek N managed to get two games from Immanuel Darty to remain in second place at 28-8. Wegan W is one game back in third place at 27-9. They had the hot darts Monday scoring 30 runs against the Dudleytown Mets. Brownstown 4 scored only 5 runs in losing to Sauers E.

Lutheran Lake will be looking to break out of their slump next week facing Redeemer S. The Lakers are currenting on a nine-game losing streak.

Dartball History: With the beginning of the 2001-2002 dartball season it marked the 50th anniversary of the league. The league appointed a 50th anniversary committee to come up with ideas to make the 2002 tournament a special event.

The committee canvased the community and received over 40 donated items to be given away during the tourney by a randomed drawing. The committee also decided to have a 50th Anniversary Dartball Team.

Each team in the league were to select their representative to the team. Some criteria the teams used were: 1.) Best clutch hitter; 2.) Highest batting average; 3.) Number of years played; 4.) Contributions to the league; and 5.) a combination of all of the above.

The 50th Anniversary Team consisted of: Herb Hoene (Borchers), Ernie Rothert (Borchers B), Eugene Hackman (Brownstown 3), Fred Stuckwisch (Brownstown 4), Lester Otte (Cortland), Bob Klosterman (Dudleytown Mets), Lawrence Bobb (Dudleytown N), Bill Kamman (Immanuel 1), Bill Brock (Jonesville), Otto Rittman (Redeemer N), Fred Tormoehlen (Redeemer S), Glenn Benter (Sauers B), Wib Fenneberg (Sauers C), Orville Hackman (Sauers E), Mark Pollert (Sauers S), Elmer Wischmeier (Sauers X), Cliff Schafstall (Waymansville), Les Tormoehlen (Wegan B), George Schneider (Wegan E), Mark Tape (Wegan N), Wayne Tormoehlen (Wegan W), Don Frey (White Creek N), Mart Hoffman (White Creek S), Elvert Redicker (Vallonia) and Oscar Schroer (Zion).
