The Brownstown Central Community School Corp. board of school trustees recently agreed to make an offer for the purchase of a 6.15-acre tract adjacent to the north side of the elementary school property.

Assistant Superintendent Jade Peters told trustees during their Jan. 10 meeting that the corporation was prepared to offer the present owner, Lucas-Ackerman Supply Co., $122,000 for the property in the 300 block of East Commerce Street. That’s an amount that was the average of the two appraisals as required by state law, he said.

After the meeting, Peters said there is not any plans at this time for the property.

In another matter, trustees approved $4,441.04 in emergency allocations, including $1,700 to Harrell-Fish Inc. for heating repairs and $1,890 for Dayton’s Heating & Cooling for water softener repairs at the high school. Peters said the emergency allocations fund had a $95,558.96 balance.

Trustees also approved the resignations of Adam Disque as assistant high school boys track coach; Brandon Wilson as an aide as the elementary school; and Jill Miller as assistant middle school girls track coach; the appointment of Luke Cobb as high school robotics coordinator; and the retirement of Dan Schwartz as high school technology teacher.
