Rita Charlene Mitchaner Sherrill, 76, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away December 11, 2022, at her residence.

She was born December 10, 1946, in Seymour, Indiana, the daughter of the late Ralph Leon and Rettie Jane (Rumph) Mitchaner. She married David Lee Sherrill on January 1, 1965, at Reddington Christian Church, and he survives.

She was a member of Reddington Christian Church. She worked at Cummins Engine Company, Home Federal Saving &Loan, Seymour Middle School as the secretary for the principal, and at Seymour High School as the secretary for the principal. She enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family, and was a great cook. She assisted with Cub Scouts and had a special place in her heart to help those in need.

Rita is survived by her husband, David L. Sherrill; son, Anthony D. (Dina) Sherrill; two grandchildren, Megan and Gretchen Sherrill; and her twin sister, Nita D. (James) Proctor.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Troy Lynn Sherrill.

Visitation will be held at Voss &Sons Funeral Service on Friday December 16, 2022, from 4-8PM. Service will be held at Voss &Sons Funeral Service on Saturday December 17, 2022, at 10:30AM with Pastor Scott Brown officiating. She will be laid to rest at Reddington Cemetery.
