Freetown Church of Christ’s Senior’s Day set to return

Freetown Church of Christ plans to hold its first Senior’s Day since 2019 because of the pandemic.

The public is invited to the event, which will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 27 at the church, 7077 N. State Road 135, Freetown.

The theme will be “Old Friends.” J.D. Miller, who along with Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote the song “Old Friends,” is a gifted singer and speaker and will be the pianist for the day, according to a news release from the church.

The lineup for the day includes singers, musicians and preachers and a dramatist, Betty Gray, who will perform her popular drama of Fanny Crosby.

The list also includes Jim Hutson, Ron Bridgewater, Calib Smith, Bryan and Yvonne Hutson, Mike Bartlett and Barry DeWitt, who is the pastor at Freetown Church of Christ. He will be singing, preaching and emceeing during the day.

The Pines will cater the lunch, which costs $15. The menu features Swiss steak, Swiss chicken casserole, chicken tenders, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, slaw, rolls, tea, sweet tea and lemonade. The church will provide the desserts.

Registration is required so the meal can be paid in advance.
