College fair, financial aid night planned at SHS

0

Seymour High School will host a financial aid night before the Jackson County College Fair at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 in the Earl D. Prout Auditorium at the school, 1350 W. Second St., Seymour.

High school students and their parents are encouraged to attend this informative session to gain a better understanding of the financial aid process and how best to begin planning to fund their higher education.

A student aid expert from INvestEd will be available to provide information and answer questions.

Parents and students will learn how to apply for all types of financial aid, including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is required to determine eligibility for most student aid programs, such as the Federal Pell Grant, institutional awards and federal student and parent loans.

Following the presentation, the Jackson County College Fair will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria. This will be a valuable resource for both underclassmen and seniors. Seniors will be given an opportunity to ask questions about college applications and scholarships, housing, class size and available programs. Underclassmen and their parents will be introduced to the college selection process.
