Braves win on senior night

The Brownstown Central boys tennis team defeated Charlestown 4-1 on Monday night at home.

Pierson Wheeler won 3-6, 7-6 (4), and won the third set due to his opponent feeling under the weather at two singles. Lane Steward won 6-4, 6-4 at three singles, the one doubles team of Connor Gwin and Bryce Reaser won 6-3, 6-2, and the two doubles team of Elix Preston and Evan Schneider won 6-3, 7-5.

Smith Hackman suffered a 0-6, 7-6 (3), 4-6 loss at one singles.

Gwin, Reaser, Preston and Landon Hehman, who won 6-1 in JV singles, were all honored for senior night.

The Braves are now 8-7 overall and will be at Seymour on Thursday.

Owls top Bulldogs in HHC

The Seymour boys tennis team started the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament on Monday at New Albany against the Bulldogs, and the Owls came away with a 4-1 win.

Hunter Heckman won 6-0, 6-0 at two doubles, Reuben Kruse won 6-1, 6-1 at three singles, the one doubles team of Jack VonDielingen and Joe Schmidt won 7-5, 6-1, and the two doubles team of Parker Thompson and Drew Handloser won 6-2, 7-5.

Eli Meyer dropped his match at one singles 7-5, 6-4.

With the win, head coach Brandon Davis said he likely expects to play against Jennings County at home on Wednesday with a trip to the HHC finals on the line.

Trinity falls to Austin

The Trinity Lutheran boys tennis team suffered a 4-1 loss to Austin on Monday night.

The one doubles team of Nathan Voelker and Jonathan Neawedde got Trinity’s point with a 6-3, 6-4 win.

Solomon Hall lost 6-0, 6-0 at one singles, Jack Stuckwisch lost 6-2, 6-0 at two singles, Nathan Finke lost 6-1, 6-0 at three singles and the two doubles team of Will Gaussman and Max Peters lost 6-1, 6-3.

The Cougars go on the road again today at Edinburgh at 5 p.m.

Volleyball

Crothersville drops match at Jac-Cen-Del

The Crothersville volleyball team suffered a 25-14, 25-18, 25-18 loss at Jac-Cen-Del on Monday night.

The Tigers served 45-51 with five aces and hit 93-106 with seven kills.

Carlee Walker served 12-14 with two aces and Zoey Prince served 9-9. Pearl Shirley hit 27-32 with three kills and Hayden Pilgrim hit 27-27 with one kill. Walker also had 17 digs.

The Tigers will be back at home tonight for a match against Trinity Lutheran.

Clarksville sweeps Medora

The Medora volleyball team hosted Clarksville on Monday night, and it was the away team that was able to win the match in three sets 25-18, 25-11, 25-9.

The Hornets will stay at home on Thursday when they host Orleans at 6 p.m.

Boys soccer

Cougars fall on the road

Trinity Lutheran’s boys soccer team fell behind Southwestern (Shelby) 5-0 at the half and lost 7-1 on the Spartans’ field Monday night.

The loss left Trinity 3-8-2 for the season, and the Cougars will play at Brown County Thursday night.
