Braves sweep Panthers

The Brownstown Central volleyball team went on the road on Tuesday and swept Corydon Central 25-15, 25-22, 25-14.

As a team, the Braves hit 121-137 with 39 kills and served 65-71 with three aces.

Sophie Wischmeier hit 45-48 with 14 kills, Kalee Borden hit 34-36 with nine kills and Addison Darlage hit 9-10 with five kills. Jaydynn Yeadon served 12-12 with two aces, Finley Wheeler served 18-18 and Borden served 10-10.

The freshman team tied with Corydon 1-1. The Panthers won the first set 25-24, and the Braves won the second set 25-21.

Hunter Trueblood, Olivia Justice and Erica Warren each had four kills for Brownstown, while Justice served three aces and Kate Skaggs served one.

On Saturday, Brownstown will be in the Ultra Ankle Challenge at New Albany starting at 9 a.m. The junior varsity team will be playing in the Roncalli tournament on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Girls soccer

Highlanders beat Owls

The Seymour girls soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at Floyd Central on Tuesday night.

It was a competitive, tight 1-0 game with 5 minutes to go until the Highlanders scored two more to put the game out of reach.

The JV team lost 5-0 to Floyd.

Seymour is now 5-3 overall this season and 2-1 in the Hoosier Hills Conference. The Owls will be at Bedford North Lawrence tonight.
