Braves beat Lions

The Brownstown boys tennis team went to Salem on Friday night and defeated the Lions 3-2.

Smith Hackman won 6-3, 6-4 at one singles, Pierson Wheeler won 6-1, 6-2 at two singles and the two doubles team of Evan Schneider and Elix Preston won 6-4, 6-0 to round out the Braves’ points.

Bryce Reaser lost 6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-5 at three singles, and the one doubles team of Connor Gwin and Lane Steward lost 6-2, 6-4.

Brownstown is now over .500 on the season at 6-5. The Braves will host Borden on Monday at 5 p.m.

Volleyball

Crothersville drops match to Austin

The Crothersville volleyball team lost in three sets at home to Austin on Friday night 25-21, 25-18, 25-9.

Pearly Shirley led the Tigers in hitting, going 28-30 with six kills, and Zoe Prince went 21-23 with three kills. Elayna Ord served 10-11 with two aces and Shirley served 8-10 with two aces.

Makenna Newberry had three assists while Grace Smith had two assists. Carlee Walker had 13 digs and Shirley had six digs.

The Tigers are now 3-10 this season and will be back home today for a varsity only match with Clarksville at 10 a.m.

Braves fall to Dragons

The Brownstown volleyball team suffered a tough five-set loss to Silver Creek on Thursday at home.

The Braves lost 25-19, 19-25, 25-19, 13-25, 3-15.

It marked the first Mid-Southern Conference lost for Brownstown, who is now 2-1 in the conference.

The Braves will have another MSC match on Tuesday at Corydon Central.
