James “Jim” Cozart, 65, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022, at his residence. He was born on August 23, 1957, in Scott County, Indiana, the son of the late Earl Lynn and Judy Margaret (Naylor) Cozart. He was a graduate of Scottsburg High School Class of 1976. On May 28, 1983, he married Diana (Arbuckle) Cozart, who survives.

Jim was a member of the American Martyrs Catholic Church and the Scott County Council 8052 of the Knights of Columbus. He retired from Indiana Department of Transportation in both Scottsburg and Seymour, Indiana in May of 2014 after thirty-six years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Leslie A. Cozart.

In addition to his wife, Diana, Jim is survived by one son, J. Michael (Rachelle) Cozart of Seymour, Indiana; deFacto daughter, Ashley E. Whitlock of Seymour, Indiana; three grandchildren, Rylan and Finley Cozart and Bryson S. Baker; two brothers, Rick (Trish) Cozart and Ed (Teresa) Cozart both of Scottsburg, Indiana; one sister, Tina Cozart of Scottsburg, Indiana; mother-in-law, Marjorie Arbuckle; three sisters-in-law, Rhonda (Allen) Jones, Linda (Matt) Hardin, and Lisa (Doug) Burns; brother-in-law, Donnie (Angela) Arbuckle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. Service times are pending. Cremation was entrusted to Collins Funeral Home with interment at a later date at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Leota, Indiana.
