The Jackson County Public Library and the Jackson County Clerk’s Office are partnering for National Voter Registration Day on Sept. 20.

Jackson County Clerk Melissa Hayes will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the lobby of the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St., to assist people with registration or to answer questions about current registration status.

To register, people must be U.S. citizens, present a driver’s license or state identification card and be 18 by the next Election Day (Nov. 8). Registration forms are available at all Jackson County Public Library locations or on the library website at myjclibrary.org/vote.

Started in 2012 for the presidential election, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right — the right to vote.

Americans can register at hundreds of events across the nation and online at nationalvoterregistrationday.org, which is a nonpartisan group website. Online registration also is available at indianavoters.in.gov.
