Braves run at BNL

The Brownstown boys and girls cross-country teams ran in the Scott Hiles Invitational on Monday at Bedford North Lawrence.

The Braves’ girls team placed third overall the boys placed fourth. Leading the girls was freshman Trinity Cody and leading the boys was sophomore Chance Ratliff. Both Cody and Ratliff 11th place finished to lead the Braves.

Brownstown will next run in the Salem Invite on Saturday.

Trinity loses road match

Indianapolis Lutheran opened up a 4-0 halftime lead on the Trinity Lutheran boys soccer team, then added a goal in the second half for a 5-0 win on the Saints’ field Monday night.

Peyton Pollert had 11 saves in goal for the Cougars, and Trinity had nine shots on goal but couldn’t find the back of the net. The Cougars also had two corner kicks and two direct kicks.

The Cougars, 0-2-1, will host Austin tonight at 6 p.m.

Golf

BC golf team defeats Paoli

Gracie Reynolds shot a 51 to earn medalist honors to help the Brownstown Central girls golf team defeat Paoli at Hickory Hills Monday afternoon.

Both teams shot 228 and the Braves won on the fifth players score.

Next for the Braves was Emma Hughbanks with a 58, Abby Schroer shot 59, Megan VonDielingen 60 and Jayda Clodfelter with broke the tie with a 64.

The Braves will play at Corydon Central on Thursday.

Owls play in “four ball” tournament

The Seymour girls golf team competed in the Mooresville Fall Four Ball Invitational on Saturday at Heartland Crossing Golf Links.

Each team splits up their players into groups of two, and that twosome would compete against twosomes from other teams.

There were three divisions, and in the Blue Division, Seymour’s Lainey Jackson and Liza Stuckwisch teamed up to score a 78, which was good enough for 11th. The winner of the Blue Division was Hamilton Southeastern with a 67.

Jackson shot a 38-44-82 and Stuckwisch shot a 67-67-134.

In the Gold Division, Emily Cottrill and Abby Followell teamed up to shoot a 108. Cottrill shot a 53-54-107 and Followell shot a 68-69-137.

In the Pioneer Division, Lily Combs-Smith and Emily Windley teamed up to shoot a 118. Combs-Smith shot 67-66-133 and Windley shot a 60-62-122.

The Owls will be back at home today against Columbus North.
