Traffic stop yields more than 70 grams of meth

Seymour police located more than 70 grams of methamphetamine during a traffic stop early Friday.

The driver, Michael Dustin Moore, 51, of Mitchell, was arrested for dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony; and possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors.

The passenger, Amanda Elizabeth Chrzanowski, 36, of Bedford, was arrested for dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony; possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

The traffic stop was conducted by Seymour Police Department Officer Justin Hammond and Sgt. Crystal Schapson in the early hours of Friday after they observed a traffic infraction on West Tipton Street, according to a news release from SPD.

During the traffic stop of a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, probable cause was developed to conduct a search of the vehicle. That led to the discovery of more than 70 grams of suspected crystal meth, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia, police said.

Moore and Chrzanowski were transported to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown, where they were booked in at 2:42 and 2:39 a.m., respectively.
