The 49th annual Seymour Oktoberfest is Sept. 28 to Oct. 1 in downtown Seymour.

Nominations for the parade marshal are being accepted until Sept. 1. Information is available online at seymouroktoberfest.com/parade. The parade is set to start at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 1.

The deadline to enter the parade also is Sept. 1 or when the maximum entry number has been reached. According to festival officials, there are always more people wanting in than there is space for, and once the cap has been reached, entries will be put on a waiting list in case someone else decides to not participate.

No candy is to be handed out or tossed during the parade due to insurance liability with two incidents last year that made this not possible.
