Kenneth W Holt, 85, a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at 9:53 AM on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown with his loving family by his side. Born in Campbellsville, KY on February 7, 1937. He was the son of Sylvester and Mary Grace (Stowers) Holt. Kenneth married the love of his life Bonnie K Bush on July 1, 1978, at Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie, Children: Kendra Holt of Springs, FL; Randy Holt of Morristown; and Kassandra Holt of Seymour. Two brothers: Richard (Marguerite) Purnell and Danny (Sandra) Holt both of North Vernon and two sisters: Josephine Watson of Carmel and Wanda Carol, Crawfordsville, two sisters-in law: MaryLou (Tom) Wineinger, Wilma (Jim) Johnson of Seymour and two brothers-in-law: William (Juanita) Bush of Columbus and David (Patti) Bush of Seymour. A Grandson: Brandon Holt and Great – Granddaughter: Lila Holt. Cousin: Ida Holt of Seymour and God children Tamela and Sean Knight of Madisonville, KY and Dearest Friends who are like family Bob and Jeri Goecker and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Sisters: Gladys Petty, Kathleen McIntire, Cheryl Naderman, Velma Holt, Rosemary Holt and a Brother Donald Holt and Father-in-law and Mother-in law Harold and Louise Bush.

Kenneth attended Columbus North High School in Columbus. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marines from 1954 to 1957 and as a Specialist E5 in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. He attended Drury Business College in Springfield, MO as he had a passion to own his own business. Kenneth’s started his first business upholstering furniture out of his home in Westport. In 1976, Kenneth opened Kens Shoe Repair in Seymour where he served the community for 37 years with the motto of “Saving Soles and Helping Out Old Heels”. Kenneth took pride in ensuring his customers shoes and boots were returned in like new condition. Ken also had a love of refurbishing old sewing machines which he did along with shoe repair until his retirement. After Retirement, Kenneth would still receive calls for his services. Kenneth was an avid golfer and loved playing golf with his brothers-in-law and nephew Mark. He also enjoyed playing basketball and loved listening to gospel music especially songs with a Saxophone.

Kenneth was a lifelong member of Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle which is now The Tabernacle of Sandy Creek. Kenneth loved and served his Lord through singing in the church choir and as a Sunday School Teacher. He would spend his spare time reading his bible and praying. He was a devoted husband and doting Dad and was a caring Uncle to all his nieces and nephews and treated them as his own. He will be forever loved and sadly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Due to the rise in COVID and health concerns of Kenneth’s surviving spouse, we are asking everyone to wear masks.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 1:OO PM, Pastor Larry Arrowood will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, we asked that donations be made to The Tabernacle of Sandy Creek Building Fund in memory of Kenneth Holt. A memory basket will be on display for friends and family to write down their favorite memory to be shared at the funeral service.

Our family would like to thank the wonderful and loving staff of Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown for their excellent hospice care of Ken. We want to especially thank Alana, Brittany, Amber, Lyndsey and the amazing Casey for going above and beyond to ensure Ken’s comfort during his transition to meet his Lord.
