Seymour school board meets tonight

The Seymour Community School Corp. board of education will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Seymour Central Service Center, 1420 Corporate Way.

Some topics to be discussed on the consent agenda are the fund report, monthly appropriation report, annual financial report, student enrollment update, personnel recommendations and professional leave requests.

Communications and recognition topics include superintendent communications, Emily Engelking from Jackson County United Way will speak and Lisa Ferguson will give a start-of-school update.

Also, Loriann Wessel will request permission to accept the sixth grade center employability grant, and the update on the construction projects will include VPS Architecture/Skillman Group, 2020 building project, sixth grade center, Seymour High School and the vocational building.

Action items include Greg Prange speaking about the Edgenuity evening program, BCALM & FIT LLC agreement with SHS and Southern Indiana Sports Mall agreement for use of facilities and equipment. Brandon Harpe will discuss memorandums of understanding with Child Care Network for before- and after-school and preschool programs and Centerstone, and Talmadge Reasoner will talk about the READI grant.

The 2023 budget also will be discussed before the meeting is adjourned.

The meeting is open to the public and press.

At 6 p.m., the board will meet in executive session to discuss school safety and security measures, receive information about individuals over whom the governing body has jurisdiction and discuss strategy with respect to any of the following: Initiation of litigation or litigation that is either pending or has been threatened specifically in writing. That session is closed to the public and press.
