CROTHERSVILLE
Frances Ilean Hickerson, 97, a lifelong resident of Crothersville, IN, passed away peacefully at 7:30 am on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown, IN with her family by her side. Born at home in Scott County, IN on January 21, 1925, she was the daughter of Edward “Eddie” and Vesta May (Deputy) Walker, who are both deceased.
Ilean chose to leave school after the 8th grade to begin work and help support her family. On January 3, 1947, Ilean married Miles A. Hickerson, who preceded her in death in 1999. Ilean was a homemaker and devoted much of her life to caring for her handicaped son Ronnie, who lived at home with her until his death in 2016 at age 69.
Ilean was an active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, a member of the Crothersville Extension Homemakers and enjoyed playing euchre with the local club. She enjoyed gardening & growing flowers, hunting mushrooms and gathering persimmons to make her famous persimmon pudding for her family.
During the 70’s and 80’s, Ilean and Miles owned M&I Collectables, buying and selling depression glass and pottery at major flea markets at the Indianapolis and Louisville Fair Grounds and many local festivals.
Survivors include a son, James A (Marina) Hickerson of Fishers, IN, 2 grandchildren, John Hickerson, and Eric Hickerson, both of Fishers, IN, 1 brother-in-law, Billie (Barbara) Hickerson of Summerville, SC, 2 sisters-in-law, Harriett Hickerson and Maribell Hickerson both of Crothersville, IN.
She was also preceded in death by her 4 sisters, Marie Hall, Hazel Jean Moore, Blanche Ross Capps, and Betty Ferris, and 9 half-brothers & half-sisters.
Reverend David Schill will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Adams Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Crothersville with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery. Friends may visit on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and after 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, both at Adams Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Crothersville.

Our family would like to thank the wonderful, devoted and loving staff of Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown for their excellent care of Ilean during the difficult years of a Covid Pandemic.
