Jacob Scott “Jake” Burgmeier, 32, of North Vernon passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, in Commerce, Georgia.
Born June 21, 1990, in Seymour, he was the son of Renee (Reynolds) Burton and the late Bradley Scott Burgmeier.
Jake was a 2009 graduate of Jennings County High School. He worked for Navex in Norcross, Georgia, for 10 years as a technical specialist and was recognized as a subject matter expert on internal applications. Jake was a motorcycle enthusiast, was an avid gamer in both World of Warcraft, and was a Grand Champion Rocket League player, ranking him in the top 1 percent of the world.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Renee and Tanner Burton of Seymour; stepfather, DuWayne Odom Sr. of Kansas City, Kansas; brothers, Seth (Danielle) Burgmeier of Danielsville, Georgia; DuWayne Odom Jr. of Kansas; Brent (Kiara) Ferguson of North Vernon and Trent (Nicole) Ferguson of Scottsburg; sisters, Cady Burton and Maddie Burton, both of Seymour; grandparents, Gwen (Morris) Hammelman of Commiskey, Susan Van Blaricum of North Vernon, and Dennis (Ruthanne) Burgmeier of Scipio; and niece, Everly Burgmeier of Danielsville, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandfather, Ruel Gary Ramsey; and great-grandparents, Mary Schonfeld, Louise and Lester Burgmeier, and Rachel Hayden.
After his passing, Jake was able to donate tissue to LifeLink which will be able to help between 50 and 75 people.
A funeral service for Jake will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation for family and friends will be held at 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
