Marcella Wischmeier, age 92, of Seymour, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022, at her home.

Mrs. Wischmeier was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, for more than 70 years, and she was also a member of the Ladies Aid at the church. She had a strong faith, as she daily read her Bible.

Marcella was a homemaker, and she also took great pride in maintaining several cemeteries with her late husband, Willard. She loved her family, loved spending time with them, and she was very proud of each member of her family. Marcella also enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, and driving her family and friends to new places to try new restaurants.

Born on June 16, 1930, at her home in Brownstown, Marcella was the daughter of John and Hilda Nierman Hackman, both of whom preceded her in death. On February 4, 1951, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, she married Willard Wischmeier and he preceded her in death on October 30, 2013.

Survivors include one son, Dwight (Robin) Wischmeier of Seymour; two daughters: DeAnn (Doug) Maxie of Seymour, and Danielle (Charlie) Murphy of Seymour; one daughter-in-law, Linda (David) Isom of Seymour; grandchildren: Shawn (Kelly) Wischmeier, Randi Wischmeier, Heather (Tony) Henson, Adam Wischmeier, Amber Wischmeier, Alex (Megan) Wischmeier, Jennifer Speck, Michael (Mahala) Maxie, Mitchell (Maranda) Maxie, Melissa Maxie (fianc? Jacob Wagner), Mark (Alison) Maxie, Telissa Murphy, Erin (Tyler) Goodpaster, and Andrew Murphy; great-grandchildren: Sydnee, Tristan, Whitley, Chaz, Nichole, David, Steven, Carter, Ethan, Austin, Jordyn, Carter, Lainey, Colt, Dylan, Drake, Lucy, Waylon, Hattie, and Allison (Daniel); great-great grandchildren: Willy and Iris; a special sister-in-law, Jean Hackman; and many nieces and nephews.

Marcella was also preceded in death by a son, David Wischmeier; a grandson, Nicholas D. Wischmeier; an infant brother, Ralph Hackman; and brother, Leland “PeeWee” Hackman.

Funeral services for Marcella Wischmeier will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, with Pastor Craig Muhlbach officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the church.

Interment will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, or St. John’s Lutheran School, Sauers.
