The Seymour Community School Corp. board of education will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Seymour Central Service Center, 1420 Corporate Way.

Some topics to be discussed on the consent agenda are the fund report, monthly appropriation report, personnel recommendations, Teacher Appreciation Grant policy, Seymour High School choir retreat to Camp Allendale in August, SHS boys and girls tennis overnight trip to Cincinnati, Ohio, in August and Seymour Marching Owls and Guard trip to Disney World in May 2023.

Communications and recognition topics include superintendent communications, back-to-school events, audience communications and school board communications.

Donations and grants to be brought before the board will be the Jackson County Drug-Free Council grant for the SHS random drug testing program and permission to apply for special education grants.

The update on the construction projects will include VPS Architecture/Skillman Group, 2020 building project, sixth grade center, SHS and the vocational building.

Action items include capital projects fund projects, Seymour Community Schools Career Center memorandum of understanding, OWL Tech handbook and Bledsoe Riggert drainage study proposal.

First read items to be introduced are the Edgenuity evening program and corporation insurance package renewal.

The 2023 budget also will be discussed before the meeting is adjourned.

At 6:30 p.m., the board will meet in executive session to discuss school safety and security measures, receive information about individuals over whom the governing body has jurisdiction and discuss strategy with respect to any of the following: Initiation of litigation or litigation that is either pending or has been threatened specifically in writing.
