Nonprofit seeks donations of children’s clothing

The Jackson County Clothing Center has been overwhelmed with clients in need of children’s clothing.

The nonprofit organization is making a plea for any size children’s clothing for summer and back to school, according to a news release. This includes underwear, pajamas, shorts, T-shirts, dresses, swimsuits, shoes, sandals, jeans, jackets, sweaters and coats for school.

Sizes include infants, toddlers, elementary, middle school and high school. All donations should be clean and ready for distribution.

All donations can be dropped off at the center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays or between 1 and 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. A drop box is available on the front porch of the center, 622 W. Second St., Seymour.

Monetary donations can be made at the center or by mailing a check to Jackson County Clothing Center, 622 W. Second St., Seymour, IN 47274.

Volunteers are always welcome, too, and speakers are available for clubs, organizations, churches or schools to share information on volunteering, donating or supporting the organization in other ways.

The center operates on donations and volunteers exclusively and is serving more families now that COVID-19 restrictions have lifted and the economy is changing.

Questions can be addressed to Secretary Cheryl Vierling at 812-522-7331.
