Library offering July programs for teens and adults

The Jackson County Public Library is offering a variety of programs in July.

All ages are invited to sign up for the Oceans of Possibilities summer learning program through the ReadSquared app or at myjclibrary.readsquared.com.

Adults and teens are invited to pick up a take-and-make Community Art: Mini Masterpiece kit at the Seymour, Crothersville or Medora library through July 15 while supplies last. Completed work should be returned to the library and will be on display from July 18 to Aug. 12.

Learn to make green cleaning products with Information Services Assistant Hillary Pacheco at 2 p.m. July 2 in the Seymour meeting room. Registration is required by Tuesday with a limit of eight participants.

Information Services Assistant Trina Roark will demonstrate how to harvest and save seeds at 2 p.m. July 5 in the Seymour meeting room. Registration is required by July 2.

Adults and teens are invited to L.A.R.P.: Tales from the Ol’ Red Hen from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 9 at Gaiser Park in Seymour. Be prepared for training, fighting (with foam/soft weapons), searching and more. Family-friendly costumes are encouraged but not required. A waiver must be signed to participate. Registration is preferred by July 7.

Programs offered for teens ages 12 to 19 will meet in the Seymour Teen Scene unless otherwise noted.

Teens are invited to participate in the L.A.R.P. and take-and-make programs previously mentioned.

Teens also can make customized ocean-themed bookmarks at 2 p.m. July 11. There’s a limit of 10 participants.

Gamers ages 13 to 18 in Seymour, Crothersville and Medora are invited to join the JCPL Teen Discord server at 4 p.m. July 14 for MMORPG and Mangia.

Drop in during VR Gaming between 2 and 4 p.m. July 16 to play games on the PlayStation VR.

The Teen Advisory Group will meet at 4 p.m. July 18. Potential attendees should get an application to return before future meetings.

Teens in grades 9 to 12 can sign up for Shark Week: Snack Attack at 1 p.m. July 21. Participants will enjoy a small shark-cuterie board while learning to make Shark Bites and Sea You Later Pudding. Register by July 18. The limit is 10 participants.

Bring commander decks and play Magic the Gathering with other teens at Mana Crypt Mania at 1 p.m. July 25.

Seymour teens also are invited to the Scene Reading book discussion. At 4 p.m. July 26, the group will meet to discuss “Fire Keeper’s Daughter” by Angeline Boulley.
