Franklin College announces this year’s graduates

Franklin College’s 2022 commencement took place May 21 in Spurlock Center Gymnasium on the Franklin College campus.

The college conferred 172 undergraduate degrees and 31 graduate degrees.

Jackson County graduates, their hometowns and degrees include:

Elliott Alan Clark, Brownstown, Bachelor of Arts in business (management)

Abigail Leigh Davis, Seymour, Bachelor of Arts in elementary education

Michael Raymond Knecht, Seymour, Bachelor of Arts in history (cum laude)

Ty Matthew McCory, Seymour, Bachelor of Arts in mathematics (pure)

Grace Catherine Rose Otte, Seymour, Bachelor of Arts in accounting

Madison Noelle Pifer, Seymour, Bachelor of Arts in psychology (cum laude)

The top five majors of the graduating class were business, exercise science, biology, psychology and history.

Jamie P. Merisotis, president and chief executive officer of Lumina Foundation, delivered the commencement address and was awarded an honorary doctorate of humane letters, and the senior class speaker was Brynne E. Newland of Bloomington.

Preceding commencement, on May 20, the Rev. Troy Jackson, a 1991 alumnus of the college, gave the baccalaureate address and received an honorary doctorate of divinity degree from the college. Jackson is the co-founder of Undivided and the state strategies director for Faith in Action.
