Home canning workshop planned in Columbus

Purdue Extension is offering statewide workshops this summer on the basics of safe home food preservation.

Learn the basics of boil water bath and pressure canning, receive hands-on practice and take home a preserved product.

Classes will be held July 8 in Bartholomew County, July 30 in Cass County, Aug. 2 in Hancock County, Aug. 9 in Johnson County and Aug. 13 and 15 in Allen County.

Locally, a class will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 8 at Columbus East High School, 230 S. Marr Road, Columbus.

Presenters are Purdue Extension mastering home food preservation instructors.

The workshop is $50, and class size is limited. Register online at cvent.me/kagOyz by July 5.
