Jackson County 4-H offering Space SPARK Club

Jackson County 4-H plans to hold a Space SPARK Club class from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 27 in the former Jackson Circuit Court courtroom in the courthouse, 111 S. Main St., Brownstown.

Participants will have the opportunity to participate in the Galactic Quest 4-H STEM Challenge, and there will be discussions about how NASA uses robots on space missions. They also will make astronaut food and have the chance to learn about the engineering design process and apply what they have learned.

The activity, limited to the first 24 registrants, is open to all Jackson County youth in grades 3 through 8 regardless of their current involvement in Jackson County’s 4-H program.

Lunch will be provided. and registration is required by June 20.

Jennings County Class of 1972 planning 50th reunion

The Jennings County High School Class of 1972 plans to hold its 50-year reunion July 9 at Muscatatuck Park in North Vernon.

Food will be served beginning at 6 p.m. in the park’s dining hall and adjacent shelter house No. 5 with socializing to follow.

Alumni from the Class of 1972 and their significant others are welcome. The charge is $15 per person, and prepayment is requested. Mail payments to Kathy Whitehead Montgomery, 157 W. College St., North Vernon, IN 47265 or Nancy Olmstead Amick, 1100 W. Base Road, North Vernon, IN 47265. Make checks payable to the person to whom you are sending them.

Meat and side dishes will be provided, but all those attending need to bring their own beverages.

Brownstown library board holding public meeting

The Brownstown Public Library board of trustees will meet at 5 p.m. June 21 in the conference room of the library, 120 E. Spring St., Brownstown.

Agenda items include a review of reports by Director Sherri May, approval of vouchers, any unfinished business and financial reports and a review of cash flow and appropriation expenditure reports.

Board meetings are open to the public and press.
