Library announces June teen, adult programs

The Jackson County Public Library is offering in-person and virtual programs in June.

All ages are invited to sign up for the summer learning program Oceans of Possibilities through the ReadSquared app or at myjclibrary.readsquared.com.

Adults and teens are invited to pick up a take-and-make Community Art: Mini Masterpiece kit at the Seymour, Crothersville or Medora library June 13 through July 15 while supplies last. Completed masterpieces should be returned to the library and will be on display July 18 through Aug. 12.

Adults also are invited to paint a sand dollar during the program Beaches and Brushes, led by artist and Information Services Assistant Trina Roark at 2 p.m. June 24 in the meeting room at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St. Registration is required by June 2 with a limit of eight.

A virtual field trip to the Gulf of Mexico will start at 5 p.m. June 29 at the Seymour or Crothersville libraries or through Zoom at 5 p.m. June 29. Registration for the program, sponsored by Friends of the Jackson County Public Library, is required by June 27.

Programs offered for teens ages 12 to 19 will meet in the Seymour Teen Scene unless otherwise noted.

Take-and-make bubble tea kits are available for Crothersville teens from Wednesday through June 29 and Medora teens from Thursday through June 30 while supplies last.

Teens are invited to make ocean-themed possibility pins at 2 p.m. June 6 with a limit of 10.

Teens also may bring their commander decks and play Magic the Gathering with other teens at Mana Crypt Mania at 1 p.m. June 13.

Gamers ages 13 to 18 in Seymour, Crothersville and Medora are invited to join the library’s Teen Discord server at 4 p.m. June 16 for virtual telephone.

Stop in the Seymour Teen Scene during VR Gaming between 2 and 4 p.m. June 18 to play games on the PlayStation VR.

Teens are invited to join the Teen Advisory Group, which will meet at 4 p.m. June 20. Potential attendees should get an application to return before future meetings.

Seymour teens also are invited to the Scene Reading book discussion. The group will meet at 4 p.m. June 28 to discuss “Fable” by Adrienne Young.
