Clothing center accepting summer clothing donations

As summer approaches, the Jackson County Clothing Center has several needs to be able to serve its clients.

Items most needed now include children’s clothing sizes 8 to 14, men’s shorts and jeans sizes 28 to 34 and sandals and tennis shoes for men, women and children.

As the center works with clients and their families to assure they are clothed for work, school and play, volunteers also hope to be able to assist them in feeling their whole well-being is respected by providing personal care items and toiletries. Donations of those items are being accepted, too.

Any group, organization or church able to help in any of these areas is encouraged to drop off donations at the center, 622 W. Second St., Seymour, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and between 1 and 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Questions about volunteering, donating or helping in any way can be directed to Cheryl Vierling at 812-522-7331.

The clothing center also expressed its appreciation of the work done on May 10 during Jackson County United Way’s Day of Caring. Volunteers helped get the building and windows washed, and Schneck Medical Center employees organized and cleaned inside the building.
