The Crossroads League announced its 2022 softball all-league honors on Tuesday, and Marian University hauled in 14 honors, including two former Jackson County athletes.

Former Trinity Lutheran Cougar Savannah Harweger was named to the All-Crossroads League first team, along with teammate Sierra Norman.

Harweger, who is a junior this year, also added to her

mantle by making the Gold Glove team. She was second on the team in average hitting .457, scoring 46 runs as the leadoff hitter. Harweger flashed the leather posting a .949 fielding percentage and had a pair of home runs to total 15 RBI.

The Knights had four players named to the All-Crossroads League second team, including former Seymour Owl Grace Meyer. Meyer made the second team with teammates Jenna Minnix, Hayley Greene and Sydney Wilson.

Meyer, in her first year at Marian, led the Knights’ freshmen in batting average with a .398 mark, claiming 13 doubles and five home runs splitting time as a catcher and a designated player.

Also on Tuesday, the NAIA released the 40-team field for the 2022 NAIA Softball National Tournament. Marian earned an at-large bid to the 40-team field and has been slotted as the No. 2 seed in the Hattiesburg Bracket.

Marian and Webber International will play the first game in the bracket with first pitch set for 2:30 p.m. CT on Monday. William Carey and Bryan will follow at 6 p.m. If the Knights win, they will advance to the 11 a.m. game Tuesday, while a loss would drop them to the elimination game at 2:30 p.m.

Harweger and Meyer helped Marian achieve a 40-11 regular season record, finishing 28-8 in the Crossroads League.
