The White River chapter of Embroiderers Guild of America plans to meet at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus.

Embroiderers Guild of America is a national organization designed to promote the art of embroidery, including cross stitch, needlepoint and all their variations. This includes anything done with a threaded needle. The White River chapter was formed in 1980 and has had members from all counties bordering Bartholomew County.

Stitchers in the area who are not familiar with the organization are invited to attend the meeting, which will include a short business session, show-and-tell for those wishing to share their projects and time for stitching.

The guild is planning a public information event July 9 at the library. Attendees will have the chance to see examples of the various types of needlework that members have done, and they will be encouraged to try a small project they can take home.

Anyone interested and any level of skill is welcome to attend Saturday’s meeting, the monthly meeting June 11 and/or the special event July 9.
