Jackson County teams learn new sectional assignments

The new sectional assignments for the next two seasons (2022-23 and 2023-24) were announced by the IHSAA on Wednesday. There were revealed for boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, football and volleyball.

For boys basketball, Seymour remains in Sectional 15 with Bedford North Lawrence, Floyd Central, Jeffersonville, Jennings County and New Albany. Brownstown Central will see some new yet familiar faces in 2A as the Braves will be in a sectional with Austin, Clarksville, Eastern (Pekin), Henryville, Providence and Southwestern (Hanover).

Trinity Lutheran, Crothersville and Medora will all be in the same sectional, along with New Washington, Rising Sun and Shawe Memorial.

For girls basketball, Seymour will be with BNL, Floyd Central, Jeffersonville, Jennings County, New Albany and Silver Creek. Much like the boys team, the Lady Braves of Brownstown will also be in a new sectional with Austin, Clarksville, Eastern (Pekin), Henryville, Southwestern (Hanover) and Providence.

The boys sectional for Trinity, Crothersville and Medora is also the same for the girls, featuring New Washington, Rising Sun and Shawe Memorial.

For football, both Seymour and Brownstown will see some new competition. The Owls will be in a sectional with Bloomington North, Bloomington South and Columbus East. The Braves will have a large sectional, featuring Brown County, Christel House, Clarksville, Eastern (Pekin), Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, Switzerland County and Triton Central.

For soccer, the Seymour boys and girls will be with BNL, Floyd Central, Jeffersonville, Jennings County and New Albany.

The Trinity boys will be with Austin, Christian Academy of Indiana, Henryville, Lanesville and Rock Creek Academy. The Lady Cougars will be with Austin, Brown County, Christian Academy of Indiana and Providence.

Last but not least is volleyball. Seymour will be in a new sectional with BNL, Floyd Central, Jeffersonville, Jennings County and New Albany. Brownstown will be with Austin, Clarksville, Eastern (Pekin), Henryville, Mitchell and Paoli.

Trinity, Crothersville and Medora will all be with New Washington, Rising Sun and Shawe Memorial.

The baseball and softball realignments won’t be discussed until after this season concludes, and the new sectionals for those sports will be released in the fall.
