Help light up 100 homes and businesses in Jackson County for Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental Health America of Jackson County will be giving away 100 green light bulbs on a first-come, first-served basis (one per family), so text 812-565-2988 to reserve one.

Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed in May in the United States since 1949. This year, Mental Health America of Jackson County is asking people to join in raising awareness of mental health by lighting up green, the color for mental health awareness, this month.

The purpose of the observance is to raise awareness, educate the public and reduce the stigma that surrounds these conditions. One in five Americans will experience a mental health condition in a given year, and 50% will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime.

It’s important that those experiencing early symptoms of a mental health condition know what to look for and to be educated about how a mental health condition might feel.

Mental Health America of Jackson County offers free, anonymous, clinically validated screenings online at mentalhealthamericajc.net.
