SHS CARR Club hosting cruise-in

The Seymour High School CARR Club’s 14th Hotrods and Academics Cruise-In is set for May 13 on the front lawn at the school, 1350 W. Second St., Seymour.

Registration will be from 5 to 8 p.m., and awards will be handed out at 8 p.m.

The cost to enter is $10. The first 50 vehicles will receive a dash plaque, and there will be a chance to win door prizes.

Specialty awards will include best paint, best interior, principal’s choice, best under construction and best fabrication.

Admission is free, and the event is open to all ages.

Schocke’s food truck also will be there serving food, including barbecue, smoked chicken nuggets, breaded tenderloin and fish sandwiches.

The CARR club is comprised of many different students with a common interest: Cars. CARR stands for Customs, Academics, Racing and Restorations. The club is designed to appeal to students interested in some form of the automotive world and tie that into academic success.

Document shredding events set next week

The Jackson County Recycling District will have two free document shredding events next week.

The first one will be from 9 to 11 a.m. May 6 off of East Cross Street behind Subway in Brownstown.

The other one will be from 9 a.m. to noon May 7 at RE/MAX Professionals, 1403 E. Tipton St., Seymour.
