Mr. Orville Akers, 79, of Seymour, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born in Seymour in 1943 to the late Orville O. and Martha (Lloyd) Akers. On November 12, 1961, Orville married the love of his life, Rayetta Henley; she survives.

Orville was retired from Cummins. He was a member of the Eagles, enjoyed bowling, farming, gardening, and socializing in his spare time. He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Orville is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rayetta Akers; son, Anthony (Marion) Akers; daughters, Barbara (Pat) Garland and Rebecah (Fred) Perry; grandchildren, Erika (Roger) McCauley, Beth (Kenny) Hart, Simon Akers, Chris (Karlei) Metcalf, Tayler Garland, Matthew Garland, Katy Perry and Mitchell Perry; great grandchildren, Lauren Akers, Tanner Flick, Thea Metcalf, and Brooks Metcalf; great-great grandchild, Ronan Lee; and sister, Judy Darlage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ryan Akers; 1 great grandchild; and sister, Linda Spencer.

Visitation will be at Voss &Sons Funeral Service on Saturday, April 30 from 11 am to 1 pm with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
