Baseball

Cougars beat Brown County

The Trinity baseball team picked up an 11-0 home win over Brown County on Friday night.

The Cougars scored seven runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Levi Froedge, Sage Broughton, Andrew Bell, Chase Bode, Kowan Gross and Levi Pottschmidt all picked up hits in the game. Gross had two RBI and Froedge had one.

Luke Coomler, Broughton and Gross each had two runs, and Nathan Voelker, Bell, Darren Maxie, Pottschmidt and Peyton Pollert all had one run.

Voelker pitched five innings for Trinity, allowing no hits and striking out eight batters. If it weren’t for one hit-by-pitch, Voelker would have had a perfect game.

It was also senior night for Trinity, and Evan Hunt was the lone senior honored prior to the game.

The Cougars are now 2-11 this season and will play a doubleheader today at Indianapolis Lutheran, starting at 10 a.m.

The Brownstown baseball team suffered a 12-0 loss to Floyd Central on Friday night at home.

Trent Lowery, Grant Killey and Deven Cummings all spent time on the mound for Brownstown as well.

The Braves will be back in action on Monday at Clarksville at 5:30 p.m.
