Three local blood drives coming up in May

The American Red Cross has three blood drives scheduled in Jackson County in May.

The first one is from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 4 at Brownstown Central High School, 500 N. Elm St., Brownstown.

Another one is from noon to 6 p.m. May 17 at Cornerstone Community Church, 1088 Sarasota Drive, Seymour.

The third one is from 2 to 7 p.m. May 26 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 605 S. Walnut St., Seymour.

To schedule an appointment to donate blood, platelets or plasma, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 800-733-2767.

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.

Individuals who are 17 in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
