Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Five Star Paving plans to close sections of State Road 58 starting on or after May 1.

The purpose of the project is to complete a series of small structure replacements between State Road 135 in Jackson County and State Road 446 in Lawrence County.

The road will close for up to 30 days at each of the following locations:

Starting on/after May 1: State Road 58, 13.37 miles east of State Road 446 at unnamed tributary to South Fork Salt Creek, between county roads 550W and 650W in Jackson County

Starting in early June: State Road 58, 9.9 miles east of State Road 446, between Pike Road and County Road 980W in Jackson County

Starting in early July: State Road 58, 1.39 miles east of State Road 446 at unnamed tributary to Leatherwood Creek, between Fairview Mundell Road and State Road 446 in Lawrence County

The $1 million contract was awarded to Five Star in February with a completion date in late October. Traffic will be routed along the official detour, which follows State Road 446, U.S. 50 and State Road 135. Access will be maintained for local residents. Thru traffic should use an alternate route.
