Bicycle club beginning weekly rides on May 4

The Jackson County Bicycle Club will soon begin its yearly Wednesday evening rides.

Beginning May 4, rides will leave at 6 p.m. from Central Christian Church (parking lot facing Westgate Road). Rides will begin at 2.5 miles and increase a half-mile each week thereafter until bicyclists are traveling 10 miles. Rides will be at a slow pace around Seymour and take approximately one hour.

The rides are an opportunity for individuals, couples or families to bicycle in a group, according to a news release from the club. Special instructions will be given to new riders explaining bicycle etiquette, safety and safe routes around Seymour.

If you miss the first week, just show up and start riding the next week. No one will be left behind.

There will be no ride May 18 as this will be the Ride of Silence, which will start at 7 p.m. from Trinity United Methodist Church.

Check out Jackson County Bicycle Club on Facebook for weekly notices, information and scheduled rides.
