Work session set to discuss school board alignment

Discussion about equal representation of townships on the Brownstown Central Community School Corp. board of school trustees took place in early 2020.

Then the COVID-19 pandemic sidelined those conversations.

Recently, Superintendent Tim Taylor said he met with a couple of people to resume those conversations. The talk also included the pros and cons of appointed versus elected school boards. Brownstown is among the few corporations in the state with an appointed board.

Taylor said a work session has been set for 5:30 p.m. May 2 at the administration office, 608 W. Commerce St., Brownstown, to discuss these topics. It’s open to the public and press.

Other work sessions are possible, he said.
