Billie J. Blann, age 89, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Blann was a member of Brownstown Christian Church since 2005, and he was a coal miner for 41 years before retiring.

Mr. Blann loved his wife and his family dearly. He loved spending time with his family, especially spending time with his wife in Fort Myers, Florida, for more than 20 years. Bill was a fishing enthusiast, as he had a passion for casting his fishing pole into the water. He also enjoyed gardening, collecting antique tractors, and collecting farm equipment. In addition, Bill loved people, and he was passionate about talking to people and making new friends.

Born on October 19, 1932, in Vincennes, he was the son of Rollie and Fidelis Owens Blann, both of whom preceded him in death. On May 17, 1952, at Shaker Prairie Christian Church in Carlisle, he married the “love of his life”, Patty Page Blann, and she survives in Brownstown. Bill and Pat were married 69 years.

Survivors also include one son, Allen Joe Blann of Brownstown; daughter-in-law, Patricia Blann of Princeton; two sisters: Kay Gilham of Sullivan, and Sue Cox of Texas; three grandchildren: Daniel (Angela) Blann of Brownstown, Michelle (Shaun) Russell of Mississippi, and Alicia (Ed) Hughes of Princeton; and seven great-grandchildren: Jacob Blann, Brady Blann, Chase Blann, Chloe Russell, Carl Russell, Patrick Hughes, and Connor Hughes.

Besides his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by a son, Steve Blann; brothers: Rex, Don, Jack, Jerry, Dick, Jim, and Harold; and sisters: Rollena, Betty, Rita, Mary, and Connie.

Funeral services for Billie J. Blann will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Ed Owens officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022, at the funeral home.

A Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Shaker Prairie Church, Shepherd Cemetery, in Carlisle.

Memorials may be given to Medora Goes Pink or Donor’s choice.
