Chili supper, raffle to benefit fire chief’s family

The Redding Township Volunteer Fire Department’s inaugural chili supper is set for 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Rockford Station, 2112 High St., Seymour.

The cost is $5 for a bowl of chili, a half peanut butter sandwich and a drink or $2 for a whole peanut butter sandwich and a drink.

There also will be a raffle with one ticket for $1, six tickets for $5 and 20 tickets for $10. Raffle items may be viewed online at facebook.com/reddingvfd. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance from any firefighter.

Fire Chief Matthew Roy’s 17-year-old daughter, Kathryn, was involved in a serious car accident March 15 in Redding Township. As Kathryn has a long road to recovery, including surgeries, therapy and follow-up appointments, the department would like the public’s help in supporting the family during this trying time.

During the chili supper, 50% of the money raised will go to the chief and his family to help cover these costs. There also will be a donation boot set up with 100% of the proceeds going to the Roy family.
