Construction work is resuming in the existing Interstate 65 construction zone in Bartholomew County.

Work began last year on the $65 million added travel lanes project that also includes asphalt resurfacing on I-65 between Columbus and Taylorsville and a deck overlay on the bridge over State Road 46.

Upcoming lane closures and traffic shifts are planned, weather permitting:

  • 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday: Nightly lane closures northbound between mile marker 64 and mile marker 68 to move and place temporary concrete barrier wall.
  • Starting at 9 p.m. through 6 a.m.: Lane closures southbound between mile marker 64 and marker 68 to shift traffic to the northbound side, configuration in place through July.
  • 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. March 29 through April 1: Nightly lane closures on I-65 northbound and southbound between mile marker 68 and mile marker 76 to begin preliminary resurface work (patching layout and setup).
  • Starting 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. April 4: Alternating nightly lane closures northbound and southbound between mile marker 68 and mile marker 76 for patching, milling and paving, resurface work continuing through July.

Drivers should expect a round-the-clock reduced speed limit of 55 mph with 45 mph flashing signs when workers are present.
