Mary Jo Burcham Abner, 88, entered heaven’s gate on Sunday, March 13, 2022. Mrs. Abner was born on July 21, 1933, the daughter of Thornton and Flossie Booker Jackson. Mary Jo was married to Alvin Burcham, the father of her children, he preceded her in death in 1974 she then married Woody Abner and he preceded her in death in 1990. She lived in Naples, Florida for several years before returning home to the Mt. Zion Community.

She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and loved cooking and baking. Spending time with her many grandchildren was what she loved most. Mary Jo was a homemaker, was also employed at Marion Kay Spices and was a greeter at Winklepleck &Weesner Funeral Home.

Mrs. Abner is survived by two daughters, Katherine (Benny) Moore, Debra (Bruce) Goben; two sons, Steve (Debra) Burcham, Denny (Nadine) Burcham, she also raised a granddaughter, Catlin (DJ) Harris; a step granddaughter, Misti Abner; 12 grandchildren, Aaron (Telisha) Goben, Matt (Leslie) Goben, Rich (Kelli) Goben, J. Ben (Lynne) Moore, Josh Moore, Clint (Ashley) Burcham, Krista (David) Garrison, Brent (Brittany) Burcham, Kelly (Jason) Cunningham, Kim (Cliff) Ault, Kent Burcham, and FR Harris; 39 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Spurgeon and one brother Johnny (Cleo) Jackson.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one daughter, Patty Burcham Harris; 3 brothers Roscoe Jackson, Raymond Jackson, and Robert Jackson.

Friends and family may call at Winklepleck &Brock Funeral Home, Brownstown, IN on Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at the Vallonia Cemetery, Vallonia, Indiana.
