Bloomington North wins Seymour Regional

Bloomington North outscored Franklin 31-21 in the fourth period to post a 75-69 win in the championship game of the Seymour Class 4A boys basketball regional Saturday night.

Nick Klaiber led the Cougars with 27 points, and JaQualon Roberts added 18. Micah Davis was high scorer for Franklin with 21 points.

North advanced with a 63-45 win over Evansville North in the first round as Klaiber scored 25 and Roberts netted 18.

North (24-3) takes a 17-game win streak into Saturday’s semistate and will play Indianapolis Cathedral, a 72-57 winner over Ben Davis in the Southport Regional finals.

Franklin (12-15) advanced to the finals with a 58-51 win over Floyd Central. Franklin held a 41-31 lead heading into the fourth period.

Brady Moore was high scorer for the Highlanders (20-5) with 15 points, and Caleb Washington added 14.

In Class 3A regionals, Sullivan defeated Evansville Bosse 89-84 at Washington, and Beech Grove eliminated Danville 66-50 at Greencastle.

In Class 2A, Providence topped Forest Park 44-37 at Southridge, and University topped Eastern Hancock 54-47 at Greenfield.

In Class A at Loogootee, North Daviess edged Edinburgh 38-37 in the first round, then beat Borden 43-32 in the finals, and Jac-Cen-Del beat Indianapolis Lutheran 71-54 at Martinsville.

Semistates will be played at Seymour and Washington on Saturday.

Beech Grove (20-6) and Sullivan (25-2) will open the Washington Semistate at 1 p.m., and Indianapolis Cathedral (24-6) and Bloomington North (24-3) will follow at 3 p.m.

In the Seymour Semistate, it will be Jac-Cen-Del (22-5) and North Daviess (25-3) at 4 p.m., followed by Eastern Hancock (22-5) and Providence (19-6) at 6 p.m.

Ticket sales information will be announced early this week.
