A free 10-week Microsoft Office Specialist certification class is being offered at the Jackson County Learning Center, 323 Dupont Drive, Seymour.

The class will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays starting March 4. To sign up, email Rhea Speckner at [email protected] or call 812-519-2923.

Class requirements include computer skills, a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and ability to work independently.

Prerequisites include high school diploma or equivalent, additional weekly work outside of class time is required to complete the program, must be able to pass reading and math TABE testing at a sixth to eighth grade level (skills brush-up is available) and have Microsoft Word 2016 installed on a computer at home. Learning center computer labs are available during normal business hours.

Earn your certification in Microsoft Word and then add on Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access. This certification can help you become a customer service specialist, an administrative assistant or an office manager or lead to other career pathways.

Students also can earn Ivy Tech Community College credits if they meet eligibility requirements.
